Warp Pickup & Intro to Backstrap Weaving

This class consists of variations on inlay techniques such as inlay at random, inlay on pattern, and inlay in alternate sheds.

Class participants will work on their own looms with an opportunity to collaborate with other students. This is a self-paced class with students open to pick and choose which techniques they wish to concentrate on.

Duration: 3 days

Level: Advanced beginner and beyond

Equipment needed: either a ridged heddle loom, table loom, or floor loom

Materials Fee: $10 a color spiral bound instruction booklet, illustrated with diagrams and pictures and choice of miscellaneous thrums for inlay

This class consists of how to follow a chart to create warp pickup patterns. This will be studied for 2 days. The third day will give the participant a chance to use the technique of their choice while learning how to use the backstrap loom.

This class consists of variations of finger manipulated lace weaves such as Spanish Lace, Brooks Bouquet, Danish Medallion and Lenos.

This class consists of variations of weft pile techniques such as knotted cut pile, looped pile including pull-up loops and knotted loops, and combination of textures and pile heights.

Class participants will work on their ownlooms with an opportunity to collaborate with other students. This is a self-paced class with students open to pick and choose which techniques they wish to concentrate on.
